Not all chrome is created equal. Most platers today have switched to “trivalent” chrome because it’s easier and cheaper to produce, but it carries a blackish tint that doesn’t match the look of an original bumper. We use “hexavalent” chrome instead, the traditional finish, because it gives your bumper the bright, bluish tint collectors expect, and because your parts need to match the rest of the chrome on your car. It’s one of a handful of small decisions that add up to a finish that actually looks right on a classic.
