Step 4-Stripping

North Star Plating Process - Step 4

STRIPPING

Remember back in the sandblasting stage, when we talked about tearing your bumper down to the studs? Sandblasting was only the first part of that. The second part is stripping. And for this, your bumper takes a bath. This will remove all the old, scratched, pitted chrome from the surface of your bumper and take it back to bare steel.

But bare steel rusts very quickly. So after the acid bath, your bumper will be dunked again, this time in an anti-rust solution to prevent any oxidation from forming as it travels throughout the facility. After all, we still have several steps before we get to plating.

The next of those steps is grinding.
